ASHTABULA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

Two inmates who escaped from the Ashtabula County Jail May 15 are behind bars.

Patrick Fortney Jr. and Craig A. Fenton escaped by breaking out a window in their housing unit and using bed sheets tied together to repel from the broken out window.

Both inmates stole a vehicle from a residence on Satin Street in Jefferson Village.  The stolen vehicle had a GPS tracking device installed which helped in the arrest of Fortney and Fenton.

Both Fortney and Fenton were apprehended by the Brookpark Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol at the Marathon Gas Station, 1201 E. 185th St.

Fortney was being held in the Ashtabula County Jail Facility on felony burglary charges and also being held for Pennsylvania authorities for additional felony burglary charges.

Fenton was being held on misdemeanor charges and felony receiving stolen property and tampering with evidence.

Both individuals now face charges of escape, vandalism and theft of a motor vehicle.

More charges are expected.
