CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Elizabeth Ulrey, 37, of Upson Street in Akron, was sentenced Tuesday to four years in prison for providing fentanyl to a person who later died.

Ulrey pleaded pleaded guilty April 13, to involuntary manslaughter and corrupting another with drugs.

In April of 2015, Ulrey sold fentanyl to her friend, Reggie Dernbach. The 28-year-old took the fentanyl and later died after emergency crews made several attempts to revive him.

"Mr. Dernbach overdosed just blocks away from a local hospital. Ulrey never called 9-1-1 or made any effort to help her friend," said Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh. "Ulrey exhibited a conscious disregard for the victim in this case."

The Summit County Prosecutor's Office had requested a prison sentence of eight years.
