CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Elizabeth Ulrey, 37, of Upson Street in Akron, was sentenced Tuesday to four years in prison for providing fentanyl to a person who later died.
In April of 2015, Ulrey sold fentanyl to her friend, Reggie Dernbach. The 28-year-old took the fentanyl and later died after emergency crews made several attempts to revive him.
"Mr. Dernbach overdosed just blocks away from a local hospital. Ulrey never called 9-1-1 or made any effort to help her friend," said Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh. "Ulrey exhibited a conscious disregard for the victim in this case."
The Summit County Prosecutor's Office had requested a prison sentence of eight years.
