CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A 22-year veteran of the Cleveland Police force has been arrested on felony charges.
Calvin D. Williams, chief of the Cleveland Division of Police, announced Friday that as a result of an internal investigation, 50-year-old officer Valarie Thompson was arrested for obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence. Both offenses are felonies.
The arrest is in connection with an incident occurring while Thompson was off duty and engaged in secondary employment, according to the release from police.
Thompson was hired in 1994 and was most recently assigned to the property unit. She has been suspended from duty without pay, pending adjudication of the criminal matter.
