WILLOUGHBY, OH (WOIO) - A 53-year-old Willoughby man has been charged with murder and tampering after a stabbing inside his apartment, police said.

Lawrence Morgan was arrested after police said they got a call from a landlord who believed one of his basement apartment tenants had been stabbed to death.

Officers found one man dead inside the apartment. The victim was later identified as 47-year-old Eric Johnson.

A verbal argument between Johnson and Morgan turned into a physical altercation, police said.

Johnson had two knife wounds to his front torso, according to police report.

Officers searched Morgan and later located him at a nearby restaurant at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

He was arrested and placed on a $500,000 bond.
