WESTLAKE, OH (WOIO) - An apartment building was evacuated Wednesday around 5 a.m. for a gas leak remains empty, said an official with the Westlake Fire Department.

The leak is at 1543 Weymouth Circle in Westlake.

Columbia Gas official Dave Rau says workers have tested all their lines and don't believe the gas smell is coming from them.

They are now having it tested at a lab.

Rau says they believe this could be organic gas, which is still not safe.

Electric service has been turned off and residents won't be allowed back inside until they determine where the gas is coming from and how to dissipate it.

There are about 30 residents who live at the complex.

A Columbia Gas spokesman said the people did the right thing "if you smell tell"and call 911.

There are no reports of any injuries and roads in the area remain open.
