AKRON, OH (WOIO) -

A 24-year-old man is dead and police say the incident may have stemmed over a woman.

Detectives say the shooting happened a little after 11:00 p.m. Wednesday night in the 1000 block of Edmeyer Court.

Police say Marlon Gibson was shot several times in the torso before being transported to Summa Akron City Hospital where he later died.

According to investigators, officers stopped a 2010 Chevy Equinox leaving the area of the shooting and arrested the driver, Christopher M. Hunter, 27. A stolen 9 mm pistol was found inside Hunter's vehicle.

Hunter was charged with aggravated murder, felonious assault and receiving stolen property.

Detectives say Gibson and Hunter were arguing over a woman prior to the shooting. Both men have a child with the same female.
