Big night for Cleveland sports fans

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Cleveland sports fans are gearing up for a big weekend. The Cavs, Indians and Lake Erie Monsters are all giving us reasons to cheer.

The Calder Cup Finals are heading to Cleveland. The Lake Erie Monster's swept their way to victory Thursday night, clinching the Western Conference title.

The Indians are heading into a home stretch at Progressive Field with the Baltimore Orioles. They're now only a half-game behind the White Sox in the AL Central.

And the Cavs looking for a big win tonight over Toronto, hoping for another trip to the NBA Finals.

We asked some Cavs fans at a local diner how they're preparing for tonight's game. Stevie Desmond says he's been watching the Cavs all season with his 80-year-old mom, who is an avid fan.  He's predicting a win.

"Cleveland well deserves this. We are so way overdue, so overdue for this with all of our teams and everything. I think the Cavs are going to take us there."

Another Cavs fan was mapping out his plans for watching the game tonight with friends, imagining what a victory would be like.

"I'm probably going to lose it. I think it's definitely time for Cleveland to have a big win," said Vince Parker.

Thousands of fans will be heading downtown Friday night for the Cavs Watch Party at the Q. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and you can buy them online or at the box office.

Across Gateway Plaza, at Progressive Field, you can watch the Indians take on the Orioles. The game starts at 7:10 p.m. and it's $1 hot dog night.
