A ride on the Flats water taxi

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer. And this weekend is the official launch of Cleveland's new water taxi.

The Cleveland MetroParks, Flats East Bank and the U.S. Coast Guard kick off the Summer 2016 Safe Boating season with the launch of the eLCee2 water taxi.

During the launch ceremony the water taxi took a short cruise across the Cuyahoga River from East to West and back.

The cruise rides shut down at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The 26-foot, canopied boat will carry 18 passengers and 4 bikes.

The cost to ride is $2 per person, for all day.
