STOW, OH (WOIO) - A judge has found a Hudson teacher not guilty of misdemeanor assault.

Heidi Gauntner was accused of hitting a student after he said he couldn't afford to go on a trip to Iceland.

The chemistry teacher was on trial in Stow Municipal court. Testimony began Wednesday.

The 18-year-old student also filed a civil suit against Gauntner asking for unspecified monetary compensation for physical, mental, emotional and social damages and for the cost of the lawsuit.
