CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - You may notice colorful art on utility boxes popping up all over town. The goal is to make Cleveland beautiful for the RNC and beyond.
Downtown Cleveland Alliance and Crown Castle partnered to beautify the streets of Cleveland. Local artists designed the murals that wrap several utility boxes along Euclid Avenue.
"This is actually something that's being done all over the country as a way of enlivening the streets with these large boxes that are necessary for infrastructure," said Laura Wiegand, vice president of development and community for Downtown Cleveland Alliance.
Angela from The Lucky Dog on the corner of 9th Street and Euclid says the murals brighten her day.
"Sometimes when I don't have any customers, I like art and it's something I like to see," she said.
There's a call for artists -- they're looking to wrap nine more utility boxes before the RNC. Proposals are due June 19.
