LORAIN COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

A traffic stop that started with a speed violation ended with the discovery of a couple pounds of marijuana in Lorain County last week.

State troopers said they stopped a car for speeding on Interstate 80 around 7 p.m. this past Thursday.

Troopers said they smelled marijuana while interacting with the driver, and a probable cause search yielded a small amount of marijuana in the glove box. A backpack containing about two pounds of marijuana was then found in the vehicle’s trunk.

The driver, Matthew Hettick, 21, of Freeport, was incarcerated in the Lorain County Jail and charged with trafficking and possession of marijuana.

Authorities estimate that amount of pot is worth $6,700.
