CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A multi-vehicle fatal crash closed Interstate 90 for several hours in Bratenahl late Thursday night.
Bratenahl Police said a driver of a Ford F-150 stopped just before 10 p.m. to help a disabled car in the left lane of westbound I-90 near Eddy Road when the truck was struck by a Ford Taurus.
A Chevy Cruze struck the rear of the Taurus causing the Taurus to burst into flames. A Kia Soul immediately struck the Cruze forcing it into the middle and right lanes where a semi also struck the Cruze.
Six people were transported to area hospitals. The driver of the Ford Taurus was pronounced dead at the scene by Cleveland EMS and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
Bratenahl Police Department, Cleveland Police Department, Cleveland Fire Department, Cleveland EMS, Cleveland Metro Park Rangers, Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio Department of Transportation were at the scene to assist.
The westbound lanes of Interstate 90 were closed between Eddy Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive for approximately four hours.
The crash remains under investigation and names are being withheld pending further investigation.
