Police: Man killed lying in roadway had been drinking

WOOSTER, OH (WOIO) -

A man under the influence of alcohol was killed Friday morning after lying down in the northbound lane of State Route 3, state police said.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which took place south of Meadow Brook Drive in Wooster Township.

Todd Wagner, 48, was driving a 2013 Volvo commercial truck when he struck a man in the road around 2 a.m., police said. That man, Jonathon Murray, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wagner was not injured in the crash.

State Route 3 was closed for approximately 3 hours. The Wooster Township Fire Department assisted at the scene, along with The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit and Motor Carrier Enforcement Unit.
