CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Businesses continue to gain revenue ahead of the RNC.
Chas S Rivchun & Sons is a staple in the downtown business community, located on Euclid Avenue.
Owner Joe Soukenik says the jeweler store that specializes in custom pieces has been in his family for decades.
"We've been in this location since the 40s and downtown since 1917, so several generations now," Soukenik said.
With the RNC on the horizon, Soukenik, like others, is already seeing an increase in business.
"This is a once in a lifetime event. We're even seeing a trickle down of area businesses that are profiting and benefiting from the RNC coming to Cleveland," Soukenik said.
Part of that uptick brought one of his latest additions to the inventory, hand-blown commemorative RNC glasses. The glasses, which are produced locally, offer another way to showcase the talent in Northeast Ohio during the convention.
"We wanted a nice keepsake for the RNC. We're making between 60 and 100 a week already and its really just been word of mouth at this point," Soukenik said.
The red and blue glasses are already bringing some green. It's another example of businesses using the RNC as an opportunity cash in.
"I think people are going to be in for a big surprise about how special the city is," Soukenik said.
