Man flees after fatally shooting golden retriever

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Police are looking for a man they say shot and killed a dog in Akron this week.

The owner and golden retriever mix were walking in the 400 block of West Waterloo Road Sunday morning when the incident occurred. Police said Kenneth Walker, 26, pulled a handgun from his car and shot the dog in the chest, killing it.

Walker, who fled in his car after the shooting, should be considered armed and dangerous, according to authorities.

Officers signed warrants for discharging firearms, weapons under disability and cruelty to animals.

Walker is a 5-foot 10-inch-tall black man who weighs about 195 pounds. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call 330-375-2490.
