Police investigating 2 area smash and grabs

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Two businesses had vehicles crash through their storefronts early Tuesday morning, police said.

A pickup crashed through the windows of a Loan Max on Broadway. The report stated the driver ran off, leaving the ATM behind.

Around 5:30 a.m. a minivan attempted a smash and grab at the Rite-Aid Pharmacy at 10502 St. Clair, according to a report.

Smash and grabs have become common occurrences as of late. There have been at least 17 ATM thefts in our area since the beginning of 2016.

These machines usually weigh 150 to 200 pounds and crooks are swiping them within minutes.
