CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A "topping out" ceremony was held Monday to mark the completion of the structural steel supports on the Innerbelt bridge.
The final large steel beam was placed over Abbey Avenue in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood.
The steel girder is adorned with an evergreen tree and U.S. flag to symbolize growth and good luck. The act is a American ironworker tradition that dates back to the beginning of the last century.
The new bridge is expected to open in the fall.
