AKRON, OH (WOIO) - A 66-year-old man shot his neighbor in Akron on Sunday morning after the neighbor allegedly assaulted him.
Officers responded to calls of a shooting in the 300 block of Sullivan Ave. around 7:30 a.m. The man said that his neighbor, 36-year-old Daniel L. Givens, came over and knocked on the door. When he refused to answer, Givens left and returned a few minutes later. The man opened the door and then Givens entered and punched him in the face.
The man then took out a handgun and shot Givens in the ankle. Givens ran home before police arrived.
The man was treated at the scene for minor injuries, while Givens was taken to Akron City Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Givens is charged with aggravated burglary and assault.
