Party at Napoli's shirts raise $150K

'Party at Napoli's' shirts raise $150K for Cleveland Clinic Children's

DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - You've seen the shirts and read the signs. Party at Napoli's has become a sensation this Tribe season, and it all started as a joke between Nate Crowe and his friends.

"Mike (Napoli) was on a hot streak at the time and Mike, he's known kind of a little bit more nationally for some of his antics," said Crowe, who created the phrase, Party at Napoli's.

Crowe wrote the slogan on a sign back in April when he went to an Indians game. Before he knew it, it took off on Twitter, so he made a homemade shirt for himself and Napoli.

"Mike wore it after a game and people started picking up, where can I get that shirt?" said Crowe.

That's when Crowe and Napoli decided the shirts could do a lot of good.

"Any time I can give back and help out kids, I'm all for it," said Napoli.

Each official shirt sold helps kids, like 9-month-old Hawken, who's at Cleveland Clinic Children's battling Burkitt leukemia. Hawken's father, Robert Hunt, said his family is thankful for the donations.

"It's helped our son move forward and it's helped so many people, so we're very appreciative," said Hunt.

With the iconic Party at Napoli's sign in hand, Tuesday Crowe stopped by the hospital to meet some of the kids the donations help.

"I don't get a dime of it. It all goes to the kids," he said.

In just six months, the shirts have raised more than $150,000 for Cleveland Clinic Children's. The money is benefiting pediatric research and every dollar raised stays in northeast Ohio.

"Who would've thought, back in April, when he was standing out there in the freezing cold with his Party at Napoli's sign, that we would be where we are today?" asked Sandra Keaveney, Director of Development for Cleveland Clinic Children's.

No one expected the slogan to take off, including Crowe. As the Indians keep winning, and Party at Napoli's shirts keep selling, the money will continue to help kids at Cleveland Clinic Children's achieve personal victories as well. Only official shirts, including the Post Party at Napoli's shirts, benefit Cleveland Clinic Children's. You can buy an official shirt on 108 Stitches' website or at the Progressive Field Team Shop.
