DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A Cleveland Public Power employee had her scheduled arraignment delayed Wednesday. She was indicted on multiple felony counts for bribery, theft in office and tampering with records.
Sources say Alyeshia Walker, 35, is accused of taking a bribe to shut down the overdue account of a customer, cancel a shutoff order and open a new account.
The indictment against her says she solicited or accepted bribes while serving as a public official, and that she knew she had committed fraud and tampered with public records. It also says she stole between $1,000 and $7,500 in property or services while serving as a public official.
Court records reveal Walker has a history of drug offenses in Cuyahoga County, and pleaded guilty to a felony robbery charge in Portage county last year.
