CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - A Cleveland Heights police officer was be arraigned Wednesday for more than three dozen felony charges for allegedly taking money from people who wanted to get their cars out of a city impound lot and keeping the cash for himself.
Officer Lamont Darden, 30, faces charges of theft while in office, tampering with records and tampering with evidence. Court documents say the crimes allegedly happened from May 10 through July 28 of this year.
The thefts totaled $3,000, according to police.
Darden's bond was set at $5,000. His pretrial begins on Oct. 17.
