Driver killed after blowing through stop sign

WAYNE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

Ohio State Troopers are investigating deadly crash in Wayne County.

Troopers say James H. Swires, 54, of Shreve, OH was northbound on Jefferson Rd. when he passed a horse drawn buggy and blew through a stop sign at the intersection of US 250.

Swires Ford pick-up was t-boned by another pick-up truck driven by 61-year-old Charles J. Blevins of Wooster.

Blevins’s vehicle traveled off the north side of US 250 and came to rest in an open field. Swires’s vehicle overturned as it was struck and came to rest on the passenger’s side on the north side of US 250. Blevins was wearing his safety belt. He was transported to Wooster Community Hospital. Swires was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Alcohol is not suspected in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
