DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - A 5-year-old was shot in the foot in Cleveland around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The shooting happened during an attempted robbery at a barbershop near West 59th Street and Storer Avenue. Police said barbershop employees, Rachad Ahmad and Abdiel Espinal Callaazo exchanged gunfire with three teenagers in self-defense.
During the shooting, Ross Sumlin, 26, was also shot in the back and groin. Both Sumlin and the child were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center and are in stable condition.
A 16-year-old suspect was also hit during the shootout. He was dropped off at Metro, though his condition is unknown.
The two other shooters are at large.
