CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Murder suspect Jonathan Vargas, 28, was arrested Friday after being found hiding under a toddler's bed. The child was still on the bed.
Vargas allegedly forced his way into the home of his ex-girlfriend in August and fatally shot Julio Perez, 41, in the chest.
He was found on the west side of Cleveland in a home on the 7300 block of Eve Ave. at 8 a.m. on Friday. Daycha Toledo was also arrested at the home for obstruction of justice.
"The fugitive was a danger to the community and even more, a danger to the children living in the home where he was hiding," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement. "The community of the west side of Cleveland will be that much safer with Jonathan Vargas behind bars."
