CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Authorities today arrested a man who has been wanted for aggravated murder since August in Cleveland.
Jonathan Vargas, 28, was found by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. Vargas was found hiding under a toddler's bed with the child still in it at a west side home in the 7300 block of Eve Avenue. He was arrested for obstruction of justice.
Vargas was wanted for forcing his way into the home of his ex-girlfriend's home and shooting Julio Perez, 41, in the chest. Perez later died from the gunshot wound.
"This fugitive was a danger to the community and even more, a danger to the children living in the home where he was hiding. The community of the west side of Cleveland will be that much safer with Jonathan Vargas behind bars," said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.
