CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A 20-year-old woman plead not guilty at her arraignment Tuesday for charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and felony hit skip after allegedly striking and killing a pedestrian on St. Clair Ave. on Sunday.

Police say Zaire L. Abbott was driving above the speed limit while going westbound around 13825 St. Clair on Sunday at 12:01 a.m. when she hit 56-year-old Reno Jones of Wickliffe as he was crossing the street. He was not in a marked crosswalk. His body was thrown and hit a nearby parked car.

Abbott left the scene without calling 911 and went back to her home, where she told her father she'd been involved in a crash. He called police and she was arrested at her house without incident.

Alcohol and speed are both factors, police say.

Abbott's bond was set at $10,000.
