CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Two drivers were drag racing in Cleveland when a man in a wheelchair was struck and killed last week, police said.

The two cars were going well over the posted speed limit of 25 mph on West 25th Street Oct. 13 when, police said, Deonica Pannell, 21, was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Pannell’s 2011 Ford Fusion and a 1996 Nissan Maxima collided, lost control and hit John Kudryk, 55. He was crossing West 25th Street at Holmden Avenue.

Pannell was treated at MetroHealth Medical Center and released.  She was then booked on charges of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and Aggravated Vehicular Assault. Her 20-year-old passenger was taken to Metro with serious injuries.

Police are still looking for the man driving the Maxima. Police said he fled on foot.
