AKRON, OH (WOIO) - Police arrested a 38-year-old robbery suspect after two occupants of the home he was attempting to burglarize held him at gunpoint and called police.
The victims, a 61-year-old man and his 43-year-old wife, say they were sleeping in their bedroom in the 500 block of Cordova Ave. around 7 a.m. when they heard a noise, which they initially assumed was a family member coming home.
When the suspect entered their bedroom, the victims grabbed weapons that were available in the home and held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.
Police found a jacket with a loaded semi-automatic handgun belonging to the suspect, DeJuan McCraney, in the home.
McCraney, of Akron, was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and weapons under disability.
He was released from prison in October of 2010 after serving six years for attempted aggravated murder.
