WILLOUGHBY, OH (WOIO) -

Willoughby police say a man shot by police in a Lowe's parking lot Wednesday afternoon has died.

It happened around 1 p.m. According to a witness, a man in a car at the Lowe's ignored police orders, put the vehicle in reverse, and attempted to run over the officers.

The driver ended up running over a police motorcycle.

Police say it's unclear why the driver was in the parking lot to begin with, adding he had multiple warrants out for his arrest. They said officers were informed he had warrants out for his arrest as they approached, and were working to identify the person when he ran over the motorcycle.

There was only one person in the vehicle.

One of the two officers on scene fired, according to police, who said it's unclear how many shots were fired. Video of the incident posted online appears to show three shots being fired at the vehicle.
