DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Prior to Game 5 of the American League Championship Series, Indians first baseman Carlos Santana walked up to designated hitter Mike Napoli and made a prediction.

He predicted that he'd go deep in the game.

Santana delivered, in the third inning, two innings after Napoli put the Tribe up 1-0 with an RBI double. The Indians gave their rookie lefty Ryan Merritt the early lead, and the kid (making his second major league start on the biggest of stages) never lost it.

The Indians advanced to their first World Series in 19 years with a 3-0 win.

Tony Zarrella has the recap from Rogers Centre.
