CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump once tried to buy the Cleveland Indians, according to a letter revealed by CNN's Andrew Kaczynski Sunday.
In the letter, Trump offered $13 million for the team, which was struggling with a long slump.
Francis J. "Steve" O'Neill was the owner of the Indians at the time. He died in 1983, with the team owned by his estate until Richard Jacobs purchased it in 1985.
Trump did not end up purchasing the team, although that year he did invest in the New Jersey Generals, buying the football team for a reported $9 million.
