CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - The Los Angeles "Naked Trump" statue sold on Saturday to a private collector for $22,000 (above its original $10,000-$20,000 estimate) through Julien's Auctions.
Julien's said the statue was "one of the most talked about pieces in the auction."
The life-size statues of the Republican presidential candidate showed up across the country this summer, including right here in northeast Ohio.
The statue was created by Joshua "Ginger" Monroe. Ginger, who grew up in Garfield Heights, OH, is now based in Los Angeles and worked with anarchist collective INDECLINE to place the naked Trump statues in cities all over the country.
The statue was taken by the Cleveland Heights Police Department within 24 minutes of its placement. Ginger personally came and claimed the statue, the only one of the original five that the artist picked up himself.
