DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - One of them looked like the ace that he is. The other did not, at least not early on.
Jon Lester got rattled early in Game 1, giving up two first-inning runs, while Corey Kluber stormed out of the gate for the Tribe, striking out five of the first seven hitters he faced, and setting the tone for the first World Series win of his career.
Kluber struck out nine over six innings, with six of those caught looking. He'd turn it over to Andrew Miller in the seventh, and watch Miller get out of a bases-loaded jam with nobody out.
Throw in Roberto Perez's two home runs, and you had more than enough for a 6-0 win and a 1-0 lead in the Series.
In other words, the Indians did to the Cubs what they did to the Red Sox and Blue Jays. They battled their way to a few early runs, then watched as their Brothers in Arms stifled the bats of the other guys. It's worked quite well throughout these playoffs.
Why change the formula now?
