AKRON, OH (WOIO) - An 87-year-old Akron man was struck and killed while walking across I-77 Wednesday afternoon.
Police say Ralph Barron was crossing three lanes of traffic to retrieve his front license plate when he was hit.
Shortly before the accident, Barron had been driving home on I-77 when a tire from another car flew over the median and hit his car.
When Barron got home, he noticed the plate was missing and went back to get it.
Barron was struck in the high speed lane near the Vernon Odem Blvd. exit.
That driver is not expected to be charged.
