Cuyahoga County gives criminal offenders a second chance

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) -

A second chance today for nearly 150 convicted offenders.

The goal is to give those who are eligible a better chance to get a job, to get into college, and to live a better life.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court is hosting is first ever Expungement Day.

145 people were selected over the summer. More than 1,100 people were screened in six different locations throughout the Cleveland area.

The clients had to be reviewed for eligibility and had to have all of the legal paperwork completed ahead of time.

Under Ohio Law, an eligible offender must have no more than one felony, no more than two misdemeanors as long as the convictions are not of the same offense, or not more than one felony conviction and one misdemeanor conviction in this state or in any other jurisdiction.
