NORWALK, OH (WOIO) - The heart found in a Ziploc bag in a Norwalk field is not human, the Lucas County Coroner's Office determined.
An EMS crew found the heart in late August. It was in good condition and had only just started to decompose.
The Huron County Coroner initially said the heart appeared human, but it was tested to confirm. The tests found that there was no human DNA, and that the heart is instead from another mammal, although they are not sure which.
No further testing will be done.
