Chicago, IL -- Sporting Kipnis jerseys while sitting behind home plate, Saturday evening Jason Kipnis' family prepared to root on the Indians second baseman in the World Series.
"Jason has surprised us at each and every level and he's always exceeded our expectations and this year Cleveland has exceeded our expectations. They haven't let the injuries bother them and they just keep marching on and it's been just fantastic to watch," said Jason's father, Mark Kipnis.
For the Kipnis family, watching Jason in the World Series at Wrigley Field is extra special because he grew up in Cubs territory.
"We've grown up in Chicago the whole time, but to finally come here and to have it be Cleveland, it is a little surreal for everyone in the family. For these games we are Tribe fans and we are Jason fans, so the Cubs will have to wait one more year," said Mark.
Jason said playing on the iconic Wrigley Field for a sold out stadium is like nothing else.
"The fans are always fantastic here, you can see it on the TV. Now to finally get to experience it is special," Jason said.
