Jury finds Vermilion officer guilty of misdemeanor assault

Vermilion police officer found guilty of assault

ERIE COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - A Vermilion police officer was accused of assaulting a suspect during an arrest in September 2015.

An Erie County jury found Aaron Bolton guilty on a lesser charge of misdemeanor assault. He was found not guilty of felony assault and aggravated assault.

Police body cam footage showed Bolton manhandling the suspect. However, it did not show Bolton punching the man.

Bolton will be sentenced on December 12. He faces up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
