NORTH ROYALTON, OHIO (WOIO) - Police say the man who was shot and killed after allegedly stabbing an officer twice in North Royalton on Friday is Jun Wang, 45.
Around 7 p.m. Friday evening, two officers were called to serve a probate order, a court order usually obtained by a family member which gives police the right to go and make an arrest, usually in the case of a mental health issue. It is unclear what the situation was in this case.
Officers were supposed to arrest Wang and take him to St. Vincent Charity Hospital. Police say he drew a knife and stabbed an officer in the face and the leg before another officer shot him.
The officer who fired shots is said to have started CPR on the man while waiting for paramedics and backup to arrive. Wang died at University Hospitals Parma Medical Center.
Sources say the officer who was slashed in the face will live, but his injuries are substantial.
The incident took place near 9859 Independence Drive.
