LOUISVILLE, OH (WOIO) - A school district near Canton will remain open despite a teachers strike that went into effect at midnight, according to a district official.
On Tuesday, the Louisville Education Association met once again to vote on the State Employment Relations Board fact-finding report. For a second time, the association voted against the report.
Louisville, Ohio is about 10 miles northeast of Canton.
After the vote, the association, which represents 180 full-time and part-time district employees, voted to strike.
"We are ready for a change in Louisville, and we are standing up to seek that change," said association spokesperson Angela Emmons. "Our bargaining team remains willing to return to the table. We certainly hope that the Board takes us up on that offer sooner, not later."
