BARBERTON, OH (WOIO) - Summit County Adult Protective Services received information that an 89-year-old woman was living in unsafe conditions in Barberton earlier this year.
During a home visit, the victim notified the detective that she was concerned that some funds were missing from her bank account.
An investigation revealed that her caregiver used the victim's funds for her personal use, according to authorities, and it was determined that she had stolen over $31,000 from the victim.
On Tuesday, the caregiver, Paula Ingram, 66, was arrested and charged with theft from the elderly. She was booked into the Summit County Jail.
