PARMA, OH (WOIO) - The Parma City school district has high hopes for the passing of renewal tax levy issue 118. The levy first passed back in 1996. This will be the 4th time for its renewal to bring in more than $8 million a year to the district.
The school district had to cut $7.2 million spending for this school year just to balance the budget. The district is also looking at $12 million more worth of cuts for next year.
School spokesman Dan Rajkovich explains the district had to get very creative with its cuts up to this point, going through everything with a fine-tooth comb trying to save money without cutting any academics.
Many extracurricular activities will become pay to play or pay to participate just to stay in existence.
