CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Hillary Clinton campaigned with LeBron James in Cleveland on Sunday. James endorsed Clinton this past month.
The event filled the Public Auditorium on Lakeside Ave.
"I grew up in an inner city and I know the whole notion of getting out and voting," James, who was accompanied by teammate J.R. Smith, said. "And I was one of those kids and I was around a community that was like our vote doesn't matter. But it does. It really does. You have to get out and make sure you vote. You have to get out and be knowledgeable about what's going on, about what we see that our future entails and this woman right here has the brightest future."
James spoke briefly before introducing Clinton, who discussed her economic and family plans and the need to get out and vote. You can watch the full video of James' and Clinton's speeches below.
Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, Senator Sherrod Brown, former Ohio governor Ted Strickland and Yusef Salaam, a member of the Central Park Five, all spoke in support of Clinton as well. You can watch Fudge and Salaam speak above.
Clinton's team is worried about their chances in Ohio, where polls show her in a dead heat with her Republican rival, Donald Trump. She hosted a free concert at the Wolstein Center on Friday with rapper Jay Z and Beyonce.
