CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) - Dennis Menefee, 46, has been indicted on charges of rape, kidnapping, assault and aggravated menacing in the abduction and rape of a nine-year-old girl on Sept. 26.
The victim told officials Menefee said he was a police officer and that she had been reported missing. She then said Menefee forced her into his F150 pick-up, drove her to an empty parking lot and assaulted her.
She was released, walked home and told her family.
Menefee has a lengthy and violent criminal history. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of a Wyoming woman, Cindy Lee Dixon, in the late 90's. He was sentenced to four to seven years. Dixon was the mother of Russell Henderson, the man convicted of killing Matthew Shepard, the University of Wyoming student who was beaten, tortured and left to die.
Menefee has also been charged in the past with robbery, grand theft, cultivation of marijuana and numerous civil cases.
Menefee is being held on a $2 million bond.
