GEAUGA COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - The race for Geauga County Commissioner is getting nasty. A large yard sign for candidate Tim Lennon was vandalized by someone using spray paint Friday night.
It may say a lot about the venom in this year's election. Lennon doesn't think it was a random thing as the sign sits at the end of his street.
"It's really an act of cowardice I think in the middle of the night like that. I think it's a form of intimidation," said Lennon.
Lennon has a wife Abbey and a young family. They figure the vandalism happened while they were feeding the kids and getting them ready for bed. Abbey Lennon found it unsettling.
"I tell you the rest of the weekend I just didn't feel comfortable in our house," she said.
The other candidate in the race is Bonnie Cavanaugh who admits she visited the home the sign sits closest to and suggested they take the sign down, but she denies any vandalism.
"I don't know who would do it, nobody I know," said Cavanaugh.
Lennon has offered a $2000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
