Fugitive wanted for Cleveland homicide found hiding in Akron home

AKRON, OH (WOIO) - The man wanted for a 2016 murder was found Wednesday morning, along with several guns, hiding out in Akron.

According to the U.S. Marshals, Kurtis Fields was wanted for a May 2016 murder that occurred near West 74th Street and Colgate Avenue. A 59-year-old victim was found fatally shot.

After numerous tips, the U.S. Marshal's Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force was finally able to locate Fields at a home located in the 1300 block of Nanaula Circle in Akron. He was taken into police custody without incident. Police also recovered three loaded handguns form the home, which were hidden under a 4-year-old child's bed.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, "This fugitive was dangerous and needed to be taken off the streets."
