Teen turns in 'fake' money to police, arrested after police find drugs in his car

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) - Police say a 19-year-old man was arrested after turning alleged counterfeit money into police and allowing the officers to search his vehicle, which had a stash of marijuana in it.

According to Mayfield Heights Police, the teen showed up to the police department to tell police he was in possession of counterfeit currency. The teen told police that he sold marijuana to someone earlier in the evening, and believed the drug buyer gave him fake money. He wanted to turn it into police because he believed law enforcement already knew he was in possession of counterfeit bills.

The officer asked the teen if he had anymore counterfeit money, and the teen said he did not think so. The teen even gave police permission to search his vehicle.

During the search, police did not find anymore money, but they did find a mason jar full of marijuana and a digital scale.

After all of that, police confirmed that none of the money was counterfeit!
