While filming movie in CLE, McConaughey meets deputies in Lorain County

LORAIN COUNTY, OH (WOIO) - Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey met with several deputies from the Lorain County Sheriff's Department Wednesday.

McConaughey is in Cleveland filming a movie titled "White Boy Rick." He's been spotted around town several times shooting different scenes for the movie, which is set to be released in January of 2018. According to the Detroit Free Press, McConaughey plays the father of Richard Wershe Jr., a Detroit teen convicted on drug charges in the 1980s.

Cleveland 19 cameras recently caught a glimpse of McConaughey on set.

Hollywood has stopped into town several times in the past few years to film scenes for movies that include The Avengers, Captain America and The Fate of the the Furious franchise. The movies have brought an economic boost to Cleveland, and locals are excited to be apart of the Hollywood process.

"It's really exciting to see a movie going on," said Nikkie Robison, who watched the movie crews shoot scenes on East 128th Street.

Residents say it's great for the neighborhood to be featured for something so positive.

"It feels good to feel some love for this neighborhood, grew up in the same exact house on the same exact street," said Dasia Conner.

In additional to McConaughey's movie, Bruce Willis is also currently filming a movie in town.
