Police arrest Lorain murder suspect in Maine

LORAIN, OH (WOIO) - The man accused of murdering Ricardo Calloway was arrested in Augusta, Maine on March 29. Matthew Mason is being held by police pending a hearing in Kennebec Unified Court on March 31.

Lorain Police said Mason will remain in Maine pending extradition procedures to return him to Lorain. Mason was arrested by Augusta, Maine Police Officers while raiding a home in search of another fugitive.

Officers were called to a house in the 400 block of West 22nd Street around 8 p.m. on March 22 for a report of a man shot. When they arrived, they found 19-year-old Ricardo Calloway dead from a gunshot wound.

Police say the suspect, Mason, had a last known address on Oldgate Road in Sandusky, but they have reason to believe he was recently living in Lorain.

The murder weapon has not been recovered.
